Central Arkansas Hospital operates a comprehensive wound care program consisting of two parts: an individualized treatment plan and one-on-one patient education.
Dr. Shirley Jung is the medical director for the program. Chip James, R.N., is director of the Wound Treatment Center. He and the doctors help patients with a comprehenisve physical assessment to help determine factors that may affect the healing process. Then, they design and recommend a treatment plan for each patient.
Many patients seek professional help for wounds that have not healed after months of standard wound treatment. Chronic wounds that may be treatable can include: diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores, vessel disease wounds, surgery wound breakdown, spinal injury wounds and chemical wounds.
