There's always hope. Hope keeps our spirit high. Hope gives us strength to fight. And we battle cancer every step of the way. With knowledge, skill and technology we can win the war. Hope is a welcome companion on that journey.
After years of providing high quality care to patients who have cancer, Central Arkansas Hospital now has a dedicated cancer facility.
How We Find Cancer
The key to fighting cancer is early diagnosis. Our program covers cancer screenings as well as treatments. Initial inspections are followed by a full evaluation with state-of-the-art radiology and patholocial analysis. While our Cancer Center treats all cancers, local screenings are routinely available for the most common forms of cancer - breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer and skin cancer.
How We Fight Cancer
The Cancer Center takes a multidisciplinary approach to improving the level of care to meet the unique needs of each individual cancer patient. Our staff includes a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist and several board-certified surgeons active in the cancer program. Radiation therapy is performed by a board-certified radiation oncologist next door to our Cancer Center at CARTI (Central Arkansas Radiology Therapy Institute), where CT scans are a part of the treatment program. Together with a staff of trained and dedicated nurses, these specialists formulate plans at the moment of diagnosis to construct the best course of treatment.
The Tumor Registry
The tumor registry has been in operation at Central Arkansas Hospital since 1989. It's an information and tracking system designed for collection management and analysis of data on patients diagnosed with cancer. This comparative assessment - with local access to a national registry - allows for continuous improvement in providing the highest level of patient care.
The Cancer Center at Central Arkansas Hospital covers all aspects of cancer care. Cancer types most commonly treated are:
