Heart care in the heart of Searcy. Prevention, diagnosis, treatment, surgery and rehabilitation where you live. It's our goal to provide a high level of cardiac care to our patients. Our convenient location and comfortable setting also helps to encourage families to participate in the recovery process.
Focused Heart Care
Central Arkansas Heart Center is the home of Searcy's first heart surgery. It's also a high quality, cardiovascular care center right where you need it - close to home. From admission to discharge, the Heart Center provides focused care. This involves placing a team of nurses and assistants in charge of each patient for the length of his/her stay. And while it is small enough to maintain personal one-on-one care, it's also large enough to offer patients advanced technology and professional expertise in the field of cardiology.
The following diagnostic, surgical and non-surgical procedures are all available at Central Arkansas Hospital Heart Center.
Diagnostic Heart Care
Cardiac Catheterization
Physicians insert a catheter into a blood vessel and inject a dye. Then, by taking an X-ray of the heart arteries, blockages are revealed.
Echocardiogram
Through use of sound waves, physicians can get a picture of the heart chambers, muscle wall, heart valves and major blood vessels close to the heart.
Stress Testing
A test is done to "stress" or exercise the heart, either on a treadmill or by intravenous medication for those unable to walk easily. The addition of a nuclear scan (intravenous injection) or ultrasound imaging improves the accuracy of the test. This test helps in early discovery of coronary artery blockages.
Non-Surgical Heart Care
Angioplasty
A catheter with a balloon tip is inserted and inflated to open the clogged section of artery against the artery wall to improve blood flow. This can be performed as a routine or emergency procedure.
Stent
These are small metal coils or mesh tubes placed permanently inside an artery to keep the inner wall open and maintain healthy blood flow. This can be performed as a routine or emergency procedure.
Surgical Heart Care
Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
This procedure allows a clogged coronary artery to be bypassed allowing blood flow to 'detour' around the blockage.
Off Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Pump
This is a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft without the help of a heart lung machine.
Valve Replacement
Surgeons replace a damaged heart valve with a mechanical one.
