The Social Services Department provides services for the psychosocial needs of our hospitalized patients and their families.
The social worker has special clinical training in medical social work and assists in many different capacities within the framework of the hospital. We provide counseling to patients/families/staff in such areas as crisis intervention, long-term care and support, and death and dying issues. This department acts as a liaison between the medical staff and the patient/family to help determine the family's ability to understand the diagnosis and treatment. The Social Services Department also serves as the discharge planner for the hospital assisting with all referrals for treatment and helping finalize arrangements for all patient needs at the time of discharge (equipment, home health, medication assistance, etc.).
A social worker is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. and will assist after hours in any crisis situations.
